I certainly hope you’re wrong too because I’m certain there’s a lot of citizens in Iran that don’t deserve to be nuked. Trump likes to say he has good instincts. But now twice during his presidency's he’s ignored his instincts and listen to the so-called experts. First with Covid now, Iran. The first one was a disaster. This one might also be.The other issue is Trump likes to listen to only the people who will tell him what he wants to hear never question him and puff up his ego. If you can only have yes, men in your inner circle that’s a problem.
I could see sending one or two into Pickaxe Mountain if our bunker busters could get through some of the granite first. Wouldn’t like it but could understand it.
Outside of that one specific thing, it’d absolutely be a green light for so many bad uses by China, Russia, North Korea, Pakistan, etc.
Problem is, the country is very mountainous and nearly 4x the size of Iraq. And unless you nuke a lot of it simultaneously, the IRGC will absolutely launch big time against regional oil and desalination infrastructure that we can’t defend.
I think the only way we could have any success is with a suppressive bombing campaign along Iran’s coast while US ground forces land in the southwest and push back the Iranians 40-50 miles. And that could be like a very deadly game of whack a mole in the mountains and valleys. And last for years.
