It was for a text message that was sexual in nature. No it wasn't a dick pick. I was fired but filed a grievance of course. I had no expectations of coming back. I assumed I was done. I checked myself into a detox the day after I lost my job under no recommendation from the union or anyone else. Just for my own well being
After I got out of there I registered for classes to finish my degree and was gonna work a shitty job inbetween classes.
Before I was about to start I got a call from my BA telling me he got me my job back under the condition I complete an ASAP program. I never mentioned booze or alcohol to UPS personally. But my BA worked out a deal with Labor without me ever going to a hearing or panel. He told them I was under the influence when I sent the text (which is true) and the fact I checked myself into that detox and having a clean record otherwise was enough for them to give me another chance. That is what happened. Yes I know I am lucky and I am beyond grateful for my everything my BA and shop stewards have done for me.
Nigga, you better make the most of it. Or you can work harder at a menial job. Work like your future depends on it, because it does. Otherwise you’ll be chasing fat chicks and baby mamas.
