Red Tagged!?!

browncircus · 2025-10-19 14:21 · 348 views

Whats the deal with all of the vehicles. At our center we run 60-80 routes a day and our red tagged vehicles have piled up to around 30ish and we are running vehicles that would probably be red tagged otherwise. Same situation with our feeder tractors except with them there are three times as many down tractors as there are routes. Mechanic says the company is not ordering parts.

One of our mechanics told me one time that UPS pays their bills on net 90 and the parts house's want the bills paid on net 30 so you can see where that could be a problem.

We have an electrician that repaired an outlet on our center 8 months ago and still hasn’t been paid!

Our building's tire guy who I happen to know personally says his bills are paid right at 90 days like clockwork.

Our shop is more concerned with doing dumb shit (oil changes, PMIs) then fixing the 20 tractors red tagged with actual problems.

Worse yet, CHEMA is a big place, there are literally a thousand trailers here, I'm guessing 30 - 40% are usable. The rest are red tags and expired FEDs.

Better not bigger

Our mechanics complain that it takes a long time to get approval for anything remotely expensive to fix. And they always complain that they can't get certain parts (eg. hazard switches) because they get the cheapest ones and they break all the time.
