Is this a good use of taxpayer money?

Probably not, although that officer certainly had a hair trigger.

Cops should have to pay for lawsuits personally. Pension funds, personal assets, whatever. Carry malpractice insurance like a doctor. Why should taxation victims be on the hook for the bill?

I thought there was a cap on lawsuits and government agencies like police. Sure the jury can award $30 million, but they only pay out a certain amount.
