Sounds like bull shit
Probably why Elon only responded with "Yeah". If he's got a compelling argument for why the US should do the same he should present it.
Solar energy is gay!!!!

@badideaguy is there a way for me to embed YouTube videos so the thumbnail shows up instead of just the link? I’ve done it before but not sure how lol

Why is that a problem though? Because China and its 4x the size of the US population will have more of something?

It’s not just more of “something”, they’ll have vast more free renewable energy while we be a step behind dependent on oil which is finite and comes with all its geopolitical problems and prices

They also have way more coal fired plants that do not need sunshine to produce electricity. Smarten up.

China is much more at risk of nonrenewable energy disruptions than we are. And it doesn’t seem to me that the key to securing our energy future is installing more solar panels and batteries than China does.

Yup, China is multiple steps ahead of us. they are investing heavily in renewable energy as their main priority energy source but have coal as backup their main investment is renewable energy and they are investing heavy for the future
they are also the world leader in wind power

Shorts don't embed currently. I think they don't follow the oembed standard, but I'll look into it. You aren't the only one wanting that one...

True China is more prone to nonrenewable energy disruptions than we are but that doesn’t mean we are immune to it. You see how much discussion and controversy America has regarding oil prices and the conflicts around the world that have been caused by it, why would you be so reluctant to ramping up manufacturing on a basically infinite renewable power source?
