True China is more prone to nonrenewable energy disruptions than we are but that doesn’t mean we are immune to it. You see how much discussion and controversy America has regarding oil prices and the conflicts around the world that have been caused by it, why would you be so reluctant to ramping up manufacturing on a basically infinite renewable power source?

Are we ramping up manufacturing with government dollars?

I don't like subsidies like the kind that built Tesla.
And don't even get me started about the government taking ownership of the means of production like they're doing with Intel.

Because it’s not an infinite renewable energy source. It takes 1,000,000 solar panels to match the output of a small 300 megawatt coal plant.

Yup, China is multiple steps ahead of us. they are investing heavily in renewable energy as their main priority energy source but have coal as backup their main investment is renewable energy and they are investing heavy for the future

they are also the world leader in wind power

Wind power is a waste of money

That’s true it does take more solar panels to match that coal plant, but coal plants are centralized so one plant having an outage could effect millions which makes us more vulnerable to accidents or attacks

Coal plants are more expensive and require more maintenance, whereas solar power is essentially free electricity once up and running. Coal also relies on mining and transporting fuel where solar power we have a giant burning energy source in the sky. The less dependent we are on fuel the more security we have

The government spending is a fair point, but we have government incentives for other energy sources so I think we could do the same for this and create jobs and cheaper energy for Americans, I think it would be a good long term investment like our other infrastructure. I’m sure trump could whip us up a good deal that would benefit us long term

As for the government taking control the means of productions of intel.. you said it brotha, not me haha, I did think it would be an interesting experiment if we could have seen the reactions of maga had Zohran Mamdani proposed the same idea like a year ago though lol

Hey ps:, is it useful or annoying to ask about certain missing features on this site that were present before on BC? Or a little of both? Wondering if worth mentioning or not lol, no biggie

White House advances plan for Department of War as Trump looks to restore historical military title

White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly told Fox News the change comes amid a restoration of U.S. military values.
"As President [Donald] Trump said, our military should be focused on offense — not just defense — which is why he has prioritized warfighters at the Pentagon

It's not annoying at all. It's always useful to hear feedback.
Some weeks and times I may be less able to *do* anything about it, but I'm working towards making this place at least as functionally usable as the Cafe was.
