Here's how the "crime is down" thing typically works in leftist cities, from the WSJ on 8/27/25:

Lies and D.C. Crime Statistics

Donald Trump’s anticrime push is stoking a fight over just how much crime exists. There’s good reason to believe there’s a problem with some of the numbers.

"The D.C. police union earlier this year lodged complaints of broad statistical manipulation. Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Gregg Pemberton in July described the nature of the accusations to NBC News4: “When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense.”

He explained that often officers were directed to describe crimes as “felony assault” since those are not “listed on the department’s daily crime stats,” and not required in reports on serious crimes to the FBI. The MPD in May put police commander Michael Pulliam on administrative leave, under investigation for manipulating crime statistics in one MPD patrol district (Pulliam denies the allegations). A separate whistleblower to Congress has alleged the statistical maneuvering may extend to all seven patrol districts."

--------------

"the crime fighters themselves don’t buy it. Union chief Pemberton suggests there was “potentially” some drop, but said it was “preposterous to suggest that cumulatively we’ve seen 60-plus percent drops in violent crime from where we were in ’23, because we’re out on the street. We know the calls we’re responding to.” And don’t forget that D.C. in recent years has danced to progressive calls to water down penalties against criminals and to pass its Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act, which hamstrings police officers."

Maybe allowing a full release of the Epstein Files would be enough to get him in.

"This week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the U.S. government was in negotiations to extend a $20 billion swap line to the Argentine government and potentially purchase the country’s foreign bonds. Almost immediately after, a reported 20 shiploads of Argentine soybeans were purchased by China after the Argentine government announced it would waive taxes on its soybean exports."

"Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday said his department is working on a partnership with the private sector and other entities that would provide an additional $20 billion in financing for Argentina.
Bessent, speaking with reporters at the Treasury building, said the effort, which they have been exploring for weeks, would be “adjacent” to the $20 billion in financing that the Trump administration has announced it is providing through a currency swap line.

“So that would be a total of $40 billion for Argentina,” he said, adding that banks and sovereign wealth funds have expressed interest.

The aid is aimed at bolstering Argentina’s collapsing currency and calming economic unrest before Oct. 26 midterm elections that will determine if the country’s leader, Javier Milei, an ally of President Donald Trump, will maintain a political mandate to pursue a dramatic government cost-cutting agenda."
