Do you believe that 212 of the 218 Republicans in the House are not fiscal conservatives?

I highly doubt we have 6 fiscal conservatives on the Republican side.

I know we don't have 6 on the Democrat side.

So, Mr fiscal conservative, we should just let other countries fuck us with tariffs. Especially the countries we rebuilt after the war, ones that got billions in low interest loans, ones that had almost no tariffs from us in order to increase their exports and profits to aid them in their rebuilding. Ones that enjoyed free military protection from us for decades while they pumped money into social programs that benefited their own people. You’re good with that? Fair trade, fair and balanced tariffs are necessary.

You don't have to be a financial conservative. It's fine.
I would prefer isolationist policies over interventionist.

And I would say we shouldn't do business at all with countries that don't trade and deal fairly with us.
You're acting like tariffs are the only way to deal with these countries.

I'd bet that a lot of Congressional Republicans will suddenly be finding their fiscal conservative values again after Trump is out of office.

Spending money is a lot of fun when you're the guy holding the credit card.

As well as effectively taxing the American consumer with tariffs I guess.

Those countries need us, we are the largest economy on earth, they want access to that market. The world runs on trade. Isolationism is never coming back. Tariffs are a tool. In a perfect world tariffs would not be necessary. But labor cost are not the same across the world, this is what cost us many manufacturing jobs, companies moved to those places where labor was cheap.
Other than the idiot Canadians, no country has stopped doing business with us. Inflation hasn’t gone up, job growth has increased. All the tariff naysayers have been proven wrong.
Sounds like good policy.

To be fair, I'd probably have much less of a problem with the tariffs if they tried to use a fixed trade deficit to reduce the budget deficit.

From an economics standpoint it absolutely hits both parties.

My problem with tariffs is not that it doesn't effectively hit the foreign countries.

You’re just finding this out? That Congress pisses thru money? That’s because they’re not held accountable. They don’t dare vote on anything controversial. That’s why they have been allowing the executive branch to become more powerful. Let’s rule by executive order, what could can go wrong. It’s been going on for decades.
I can see a day when this country becomes less of a republic and more like a dictatorship.

I'm looking forward to the time when we can all go back to being for big guns at protests and free trade.

So what countries does it hit?

I've been pretty consistent on fiscal conservatism.

Unlike some.

So what countries does it hit?

Both countries.

It pushes prices higher with the upper bounds being the price to produce the goods locally, and reduces the profit margins on the manufacturing country towards the floor of selling it elsewhere.

Free trade does imply on both ends.

They have a very correct point, I just disagree with the solution.

Maybe the profit margins were too high. So far so good.

All of the server hardware I want to buy is all more expensive.

I can't even afford the chinese crap at this point.

The AI boys and tariffs have very effectively double teamed me.

You’re one of the unfortunates. Lol

I think it is more they don't like one sided tariffs. They want a level playing field.

If that were true about a level playing field then I too want insider stock tips that make broke elected hacks into millionaires.
