I think aggressively pushing tariffs is a mistake but mostly because it gives the Dem a talking point. If not for that they would find something else to whine about. They aren't the economy killing mistake some claim though. At most short term pain followed by long term growth. It is something that should be done slower and more carefully in my opinion.

I'm not gonna pretend to be an economist, but it definitely has the *appearance* of being reckless and ill thought out.
I think that's mostly the speed at which they're changing them.

I think that's my problem overall. The messaging just isn't there the way it needs to be, I think.

Scott Bessent earlier today at the Economic Club of Dallas: "Let’s be clear about today’s ruling. Despite the misplaced gloating from Democrats, ill-informed media outlets, and the very people who gutted our industrial base, the Court did not rule against President Trump’s tariffs. Six Justices simply ruled that IEEPA authorities cannot be used to raise even one dollar of revenue. This Administration will invoke alternative legal authorities to replace the IEEPA tariffs. We will be leveraging Section 232 and Section 301 tariff authorities that have been validated through thousands of legal challenges."

It's not a done deal by any means.

The odds makers say there's a 56% chance that Republicans maintain control of the Senate.

I just think if the Republicans pretend there is no more inflation problem under President Trump because the "stats" say that, the price of ground beef will end up murdering them.

That’s why they’re bringing in beef from Argentina. The herd size was down under the last administration, high feed prices, drought.

Inflation was down in the last report. That’s a fact. 2.4%

Ground beef is at an all time high.

That's a fact.

Democrats have used BS stats for years.
If the Republicans lean into that, they'll lose.

At least the other liars give away "free" stuff.

I'm not blaming the president for the beef prices.

I am saying that crowing about inflation is gonna be really tone deaf to the people who can't afford stuff with the inflated pricing.

It's sending the wrong message.

The message needs to be "we're gonna do X, Y, and Z to fix it."
Not "The problem has already been fixed."

Why is beef high? Drought, feed costs and the Democrats regulation. It was high before this year. I live in a cattle producing state. I’ve talked with ranchers. They don’t have cattle grazing where they did a few years ago. Too dry. Now they have to use more feed. That’s why the price went up, higher costs to raise them, less cattle.

Or talking about how great your tariffs on the whole world are. More people know how tariffs actually work than the right thinks.

But you're missing the point.

The talk needs to be about what the Republicans will do to fix it, not acting like everything got fixed already.

Which has basically been the messaging so far.

Yeah, let’s just let other countries tariff our goods while we take it up the ass. SMH

That’s been the messaging lately.

We are supposed to keep letting the US take it in the ass. Didn't you get the memo?

Or talking about how great your tariffs on the whole world are. More people know how tariffs actually work than the right thinks.

I would take an isolationist route instead of all that because it keeps control in house, but if you decide to have a globalist country, you absolutely need tariffs.

I don't think you guys actually win on the tariff argument at all.

I think you only win on the executive branch being the exclusive controller of those tariffs.

That’s been the messaging lately.

Not from most places I've seen.

I forgot you Gen Z’s know it all. Lol

Looks like we are if you believe the fake numbers Trump held up on his chart last year.

Here are the real tariff numbers:
