The legislation goes even further:
- Requires full cooperation with federal immigration authorities like ICE
- Mandates agreements under the 287(g) program, deputizing local law enforcement to assist federal agents
- Allows courts to order deportation and coordinate repatriation upon conviction
That doesn't sound like something that'll hold up in the courts since immigration is a federal issue. But I do like the idea of a state being able to take those steps if federal immigration enforcement is dropping the ball.
