I've done zero maintenance to it. Almost 23 years is outstanding considering that.

Last thing you need.

Remember these? The first NDA labels, we had to tear off the top copy and bring them back.

Don’t remember those.

I went to the post office yesterday and paid $33 to mail an overnight letter to the IRS. I was afraid to look up what UPS charges these days.

That’s about what I paid to NDA my paperwork to UPS when I retired. And they still fucked it up.

They β€œforgot” to notify Central States.... and then.... there was the issue of me being a former BA.

Out here those rods make your water stink even after the water softener system you have to remove them....weird.

The rods have a chemical reaction with sulfur in the water.

If it smelled worse they didn't flush/ disinfect the unit. Probably lots of junk in the tank.

Bacteria feed off the sulfur which reacts with the magnesium of the rod, producing hydrogen sulfate, that's the rotton egg smell of the hot water.

Switch to a stainless steel power rod and the smell is gone fast. The rod plugs in to an outlet. The small electrical charge of the rod protects the tank, but doesn't react with any sulfur.

Another way to do it is to raise the water temp above 140 degrees and put in a mixing valve.

Or just take the rod out and put a plug in.

Won't last long running that way. Many running two rods now. Better to put in a mixing valve and raise the temperature.
