Scammers are getting better and better every day. I had a few people try to scam me today with a very elaborate scam. A woman called from “American Express” (I verified phone #) telling me someone had tried to order guns from an online site (it was a real one. I checked) with my credit card in an illegal transaction, so they stopped it to verify. Wasn’t me because I haven’t had an AE credit card in maybe 30 years, and I sure didn’t try to buy guns. Account was opened 5/28/26 and card turned on in NYC with a NYC mailing address. Def wasn’t me. She transferred me to FBI field office for NYC saying I had to file a report with them since it was federal involving attempted illegal gun purchase. Spoke to Agent Shaun Reyes (verified # and address he gave me. All legit). Gave a deposition that it wasn’t me. Meanwhile he has someone radioing him and he gives them my info. Guy comes back and says my bank account was involved in a $30 million bank fraud case they’re investigating. That’s when I was pretty sure the whole thing was BS, so I googled “AE and FBI scam”. It popped right up as a scam. I told “Agent Reyes” that I knew it was BS. He says, I can send officers to your door. Do it then! I’ll be waiting. Needless to say, no one has knocked on my door today. Lol. Be careful y’all.

I would have ended the call as soon as they said someone was using a card I didn’t even have.
