I once had a dog bite literally a jaw shape out of a box I blocked it with, and the owner still tried to tell me that he wouldn't hurt me.
I'd bet dollars to donuts that customer's dog is a known problem.
Not saying that was at all appropriate, but I'd like to believe there's more to the story.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the way he handled the dog. Yes, it's violent and I feel bad for the dog. Dog bites are violent too and he made a split second decision that avoided one.
Following up with fisticuffs was a mistake.

I always thought the inseam on the shorts were to long. Driver in my loop (about 5’6”) shorts looked right.
