There was a time when I would accommodate shippers by coming back later if they weren’t ready. The company didn’t care, because that’s where the money was. Keep the shipper happy.

The sad part is upper management at ups is jealous of FedEx and Amazon model. Smh

The pickup was messed up for well over a year.
Their guys would have to stay late and get overtime when we ran late.
Their managers would call the center. It'd get fixed for a week, then go right back to the package car being stupidly over dispatched.
My first route had a situation like this. It was an industrial park and one of my biggest shippers was a sporting goods distributor who shipped to department stores. They closed at three o'clock. My Center Manager didn't want to give away pickup pieces to the Feeder Dept., so when they shipped heavy they had to wait till 5-6PM for half a dozen package cars to close them out. I remember before hunting season one year, I filled a P-1000 up with nothing but rifles, shotguns, and ammo. I had a time getting that package car to start rolling it had so much weight on it.
