The header isn't bad for me at all cause generally I'm joining the thread via notifications and am scrolled further down the page and don't even see it. If you put an ad on the bottom can you put it at the very bottom of the footer under overworkt stats?

The problem with that is there ends up being no earnings for ads that aren’t visible.
Right now 2/3 page views don’t pay us anything at all. So I’d be cautious of adding something that never gets shown at all.

I would make a one time donation in a larger amount doesn't really matter if the ads stay or not but I would not do a subscription
