They are the absolute best.
We never had dogs growing up. One day (in High School) my brother brought home a Shepherd that was a stray the band director
gave him. He brought him home during lunch. My Mom was like “you can’t keep him” but he put him in the garage and went back
to school. My Mom went and opened the garage door, hoping he would run away. He walked around to the front porch and started
crying until my brother came home. At first.... “you have to keep him in the garage”. Then, he could stay in the furnace room.
Then it was Ok to stay in the basement. Finally, the kitchen floor was good. My brother told me he knew it was over, when he came
home one day and my Dad was sitting in the den watching TV. The dog was laying in his lap sleeping.
Inside the house he was very protective. Outside.... he ran around the neighborhood with a pack of dogs who were all friendly.
That was his down fall. Got hit by a car right outside the house. Quiet residential neighborhood. It was sad. Great dog.
