They told me I didn't have enough for stock purchase so I took the payoff amount. Then I get a check in the mail and notification that I now have 28 shares of stock which turned into 56 when it went public(I think?)

I know one that had 30 years into the thrift. He didnt do the stock purchase I think. I know he was fighting against it happening is all I remember. Not sure if they could get out of it.
