Different eras. I'm not proud of my callouts by any means but the job is significantly more physically demanding than it was 33 years ago.
Maybe more mentally also. And the weight limit, but get help over 70.. But easier in some ways too. No 2 ft step, no chain n paddlock on doors. No wooden shelves and splinters. No manual transmissions. No phones or ways to communicate, if you get stuck in the country. Actually have heat in the winter..no frozen pens and wet paper. Convenience stores on every block of you need a restroom, on most routes. Most new trucks dont have snow and slush blowing in through the floorboards. Just a few I can think of.
