What I thought was frustrating was finding out there had been prior grievances settled or
"interpretations" of the contract ruled on by various panels. That did work to my advantage before.
Most members want everything to go to the panel, they think they’re going to get a great decision but many times they get a decision they have to live with that they don’t like.
Best to keep it in house if you can.

"in this instant case and with no precedent set....". Most of my cases at the panels were discharges.
Most of them were losers. One Labor guy got a whole family.... Dad, Mom, and dumbass son.

Yep, discharge cases mostly mercy cases. Really hard to defend those. It is what it is.

Although when I sat on the State Panels, the Union Chairman always asked our input and wanted
the panel members to be in agreement on the decisions. Never felt bullied. Regional panels were different.

Very often yes, not always good.
A lot of times they will not even make a decision and refer the case back.
