You could have paid your dad's rent with that money

Pops is 4K in a hole. Pretty steep to dig out of, especially if he doesn’t have much income, moving forward either.

Is this like turning into a Male hook up site or something?

I'm making backup plans in case my girl decides she's over my shit.

We don’t call that a back up plan we call that a guarantee plan

I'm really worried about that situation.

It's just gonna get worse.

He close to being able to draw SS?

A lot of people are gonna be in your dad’s situation. People who thought they could have a business that just paid their life expenses, but nothing else. Or people that saved absolutely no money for when they get older are going to be a huge burden on everyone.

Unfortunately, you’re not wrong and really not much you can do about it. At least not long-term.

He close to being able to draw SS?

Hopefully, he paid into it.

Think @21savage said he was 62 or 63 the other day, so yes for the early benefit.

In 1978 the 401(k) was established. Since then, companies have pretended that was the answer to getting rid of pensions. Meanwhile, Social Security benefits have also become many people’s main income after retirement.

Social Security and 401(k) were never meant to completely replace a pension. But that’s the bill of goods people were sold.

Creeping up on five decades since we’re beginning to see cracks everywhere.

SS was supposed to be a supplement, not your entire income when you retire

More and more it’s becoming

They have not club

Against

They have yacht club

The three legged stool that we thought we were going to have had one leg completely kicked out from most people.

Now they’re just trying to balance

We are still blessed with a pension

We are also at target

IRA's were great when they first started. Too good so they changed the rules to reduce the tax benefits. People were saving too much money apparently. It got better with Roths but still not as good as it was initially.

I think the dollar for dollar tax credit only lasted 1 year.

I really didn’t even know that

Almost like the federal government would rather people be dependent on them instead of being self-sufficient?

Thank God for low self esteem?

401k's became the dominant retirement option after IRA's got nerfed. It went from a direct tax credit to a reduction in your gross income.

My parents lived on their SS, even though they had a decent amount in CD's and other. They didn't want for anything, but didn't live a life of luxury either.
