This misinformation is getting old.

It was.... and is.... based on company “operational needs”.... per location.

I think the union must have touched him in a really bad place many years ago.

And as I have said in other posts it was important that the union forced the company to acknowledge their requirement to meet with the union about these buyouts.

The fairness and uniformity was always going to be in question because of the companies harebrained idea to offer these.

My guess is much more important than that to the union was a solid agreement from the company to follow through with the creation of the jobs They promised not simply to reduce the workforce.

Odd. They have some getting the buyout, and the union has no idea exactly how that decision was made?

Yep

Had a guy here get it, with only 5 years total seniority

What a joke

That mind-boggling. Should go by time in, either national or by the local. Some buildings might have more but that's on the company. In that case, they better start hiring pronto.

I believe it is more simplistic than most people realize.

The company over-hired during covid and are just trying to “lean out” the operation.

I wouldn’t call it mind-boggling. Again every year we pick vacations the same way.

Is it mind-boggling that a junior employee who is a package car driver might get a preferred vacation week and a feeder driver in a different job area does not get that week?

What’s more mind-boggling is that nobody is concerned that the company didn’t offer this to all full-time employees.

Not once have you bothered to mention that.

As far as the hiring goes, we had four people approved in our building of about 370 package car drivers. They’re all leaving Friday.

The company has already agreed to hire seven people from part-time ranksto replace them and they start Monday.

I would rather the company have offered this to employees with only 25 to 30+ years of seniority, but nobody called my phone to ask my opinion. Doesn’t make it illegal or non-contractual.
