Cost over runs and behind schedule. They were under huge pressure to launch and ignored the warnings about dangers of cold weather.

I was on vacation and didn't see the first plane hit but heard about it and was watching when the second plane hit.
I saw it explode that day from West Palm Beach
I was sitting in the MEPS station in Charlotte, NC and was the day I joined the Army. I was sitting in a chair watching the launch on tv until the shuttle cleared the tower. I got up to go to the bathroom and when I got back the explosion had already happened. I never got to watch much in the months ahead since I was headed to basic training that day..... I do remember how cold it was
