I didn't have nearly as much saved as the "experts" say you need when I retired.
Somehow I was still able to triple my savings since then.
The weather really isn't that bad. And the snow was predicted so no excuse for how many places the freeways are closed. They probably didn't bother to pretreat the roads so it all turned to ice.
And if the freeways are that bad how about the side streets?
