Why did the ibt make these organizers have an election? I would think the right thing for a labor union to do would be voluntarily recognize the union once they got enough authorization cards. If the organizers weren't organized enough to get 50% of their unit to sign a check off card that is problematic in its own right.

Sean has his own issues, but Richard Hooker is a joke to be running for president of the international.

Don't think I'll be voting for him but glad somebody put together a slate even if it seems kinda half assed. No matter how things are going I don't think it's very healthy for the incumbent to be unopposed.

Leave me alone. Try again next week.

Because as far as I know, they’ve never been Union and the IBT doesn’t want them to be Union.

Several reasons that I know of, they’re probably is more.

1 these jobs are usually gutted when a new administration takes over because their strategy and direction changes.

2 I believe the international has always held that they want to be able to terminate under performing organizers because it’s in the best interest of the membership that pays their salary.

3 many organizers are simply on leave from their companies that they work for and go back to the jobs once they’re organizing campaign is over. So essentially some of them are even permanent jobs.

I’m not making an argument against him being Union. I’m just telling you many of the reasons why they’ve never been.

Perfectly fine if you’re not voting for him, but the slate that’s going to run against him as a joke.
What are they going to change and what are they going to fix?

Voting for a different slate simply because you’re voting against the other slate is a really bad idea.

I have no problem with a direct challenge from a competent challenger.

This time there isn’t one that’s unfortunate, but that’s the truth.
