Actually, Amazon has kind of been doing this for years. I've ordered stuff that left the vender packed in an Amazon box, it was just dropped shipped right into their delivery network. Anybody with any business sense should have realized this was their goal. Once they built up their national infrastructure, why wouldn't you take in additional revenue?
I bought one share of Amazon for $2160 almost four years ago. It split into twenty shares and is worth $5497 right now. I bought 17 more shares 2 1/2 years later for $2203, its at $4560 today. They make most of their profit on web services.
Yep AWS has been the cash cow to build this the past ten years. Plus the help from UPS and others.
