One time I was heading back to my building and a customer was standing on the curb holding the route driver's DIAD. He had left it at a stop and continued on his way. I grab the DIAD and returned it to the proper driver.
I knew of several times drivers leaving it at one of their pickups

I came off of the boat today looking to get rid of 5 lobsters.
My main customer { again } didn't want any.
I found two senior citizens to take them.

I haven't worked in that in thirteen years. I just renew it because the schooling cost too much originally and getting it back if lost would be next to impossible.

This has been the way I have done it since 1972.
The first senior citizens were my parents.
After they died, it became anyone I owed a favor to.
Now , it's the first person I see , when I come ashore.
Some times I still give some to my siblings, but not all of them can cook them, so I have to be selective.
I tried to give them away to the USGC but they can't accept gifts.
