On road supervisor came out to give a misload to driver. Driver was in a resi tower and not coming back to the truck anytime soon. Supe was going to give the driver a couple cold waters when they saw them, so when they opened the truck up to leave the package in there they also opened the drivers cooler to put some waters in there. There was a beer someone on route had given the driver in the cooler. Supe took the driver for a fit for duty test to see if they were drinking on the job. They were not, but they did test positive for THC. Did not get their job back.

Unfortunate circumstances but those are the risks you take when you smoke weed as a UPS driver. Having a beer in the car can be cause for a fit for duty but if you can pass one I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I didn’t smoke weed as a driver. It wasn’t really a thing for the majority of drivers. Responsible people grew out of that phase. I do enjoy a nice gummy these days though.

Thank you, Richard Kuklinski.

That’s an unfortunate chain of events

I forget was it a legal state at the time also?

Yeah but doesn't matter we are under DOT federal guidelines and it's federally illegal

I probably smoked more weed than you in my younger days. I just drifted away from it. Money being the primary motivation.

I would if I could. Its kind of BS you can get black out drunk on Sunday and go to work Monday and that's fine but if you smoke a joint Friday night after work you can get fired for that on Monday. They need to come up with a weed breathalyzer.

Bingo

Fuckin pirate

Thats fair enough, just get off your high horse actin like you “grew out of it” you were still getting wasted at the end of your shift haha

If it weren’t for those dot laws you know you’d be the Willie Nelson of drivers

Without the talent of course

I agree. But some, like @doublestandards ruin it for everyone else with their excessive use of it.

Most of art 35 is DOT regulations copied verbatim. Until the DOT adopts new policy nothing will change. The DOT already said nothing is going to change because of rescheduling for truck drivers who have a prescription. I have 25 years left, I doubt anything will change in that time.

The weed wasn’t that great anyway.

Shit man compared to my younger days I’m a fuckin dork when it comes to it. I never smoke before work. The second I get home though, yeah, excessive is a fair word

I agree. But some, like @doublestandards ruin it for everyone else with their excessive use of it.

In a perfect world as long as he doesn't come to work impaired it wouldn't matter that he looks like james franco staring into the wind 100% of his free time

Thats fair enough, just get off your high horse actin like you “grew out of it” you were still getting wasted at the end of your shift haha

I’m not on a high horse, I did more drugs than you can name, drank more than you will ever drink. No regrets, it is what it is, my nigga. Don’t presume to scold me.

Agreed. Although I’ll push back and say in a perfect world I’d be able to smoke a joint on break. Actually in a perfect world I wouldnt have a job because I won the lottery. But I’m willing to compromise and agree to no smoking before work and everything after is fair game and they invent a weed breathalyzer

Yes, but if you look sharp, show up on time ready to go, it cuts a lot of slack. Something you people can’t seem to figure out.
