My parents owned their home, so no payments, so only expenses were utilities and food. Moved to TN after they retired, lower taxes.
After my dad died, my mom got about $1400/month(mom died ~9 yrs ago).

My residential area is a very middle class area the kind of area that you know most people are barely making ends meet every month
I’m always shocked at the amount of brand new vehicles parked in driveways many times two of them at $40-$60,000k + and 700+ dollar a month payments . All at the expensive of their future.
