You will always have injuries. It is always good to have a couple of guys stashed on your bench for when that happens. Usually I end the season with about half the players I started with. You need to get lucky with long shots from waivers.

You see it when you look at your team but I didn't see a way to add a player to your IR slot. Will you only see that option if you have a player on IR on your team?

You can't pick up a player already on IR and put them in the spot either, has to go to bench, then to IR.

It sounds like it is mostly a place to stash a player already on your bench. A lot of juggling your lineup to pick up someone from IR on waivers.
