The union is being foolish on this one.

I posted a paid one on accident!!! Yes and no on being foolish. We don’t know though. Are they trying to stop it from happening all together or bring them to the table? Maybe get it in writing so members know if they should go now or wait. Having it written out for the life of the contract maybe helpful. We will never know of what a negotiated outcome would be if doesn’t happen. Just turning away letting them do as they please could be a snow ball rolling down a hill.

If only the union was as eager to resolve grievances that have been sitting nearly 6 months.....

Seems to be an issue at other locals. I think the company is doing all they can to delay these as long as possible just to help divide us against the union. Along with closing centers, over 9.5 and these buy outs. They are doing very well. I’m sure some locals are at fault. Best to be in contact with your BA then if no luck the local president.

Many drivers retired under this current contract but before the buyout offers. Most if not all of us would have postponed retirement had we known $150k was soon to be available. The buyout was not negotiated and violates the contract. It is a separate agreement between employer and employee. It contradicts with the provisions of the contract by offering different terms of employment and different wages for employees under the same contract.

Retirees cannot file grievances but can be included in the remedy to current employee grievances.

So please, current drivers; file grievances regarding the buyouts and specify in the remedy requested: all drivers who retired under the current contract to be paid $150k.

Thanks brothers and sisters!
