The tariffs weren't even implemented properly to achieve their alleged goal. All they did was make shit more expensive including shit that never was and never will be manufactured in the US and complicate international shipping. So they wait a year to "block" the tariffs but prices have already been jacked to the sky to accommodate them and they're sure as shit not going to go back down.

We don't need welfare. Factories aren't going to pop up over night. Incentivising domestic manufacturing through tariffs requires a long term plan where factories can be built and competent workers can be trained by the time the tariffs are implemented. Some idiots over the course of decades fucked this all up and it's going to take a more thought out approach to correct it. Not to mention like I said that some things simply cannot and will not be made here.
