Many drivers retired under this current contract but before the buyout offers. Most if not all of us would have postponed retirement had we known $150k was soon to be available. The buyout was not negotiated and violates the contract. It is a separate agreement between employer and employee. It contradicts with the provisions of the contract by offering different terms of employment and different wages for employees under the same contract.

Retirees cannot file grievances but can be included in the remedy to current employee grievances.

So please, current drivers; file grievances regarding the buyouts and specify in the remedy requested: all drivers who retired under the current contract to be paid $150k.

Thanks brothers and sisters!

What about the ones that retired last year?
Shouldn't they be eligible for the 1800 for every year of service?

Yes. But I would think the most likely higher amount of $150k should prevail. We just need current drivers to file grievances regarding the buyouts and to include in the remedy requested that all drivers who retired under the current CBA prior to the buyout offer be afforded the same $150k payout. Wages are absolutely a provision of the contract.

What about the guys that took the buyout in August?
Shouldn't they get the extra 90k or so too?

Absolutely. Problem is retirees cannot file grievances. These extra buyout wages were not negotiated. They are without a doubt separate agreement between the employer and the employee. Any grievance submitted by current drivers should include remedy requested ALL drivers who retired under this CBA prior to the buyout offer should receive the $150K renumeration.

I have to disagree with you on that.

I have to disagree with you on that.

And if at a later date UPS increases it to a $250k buyout; every driver who retired under this current contract prior to that offer should be eligible for those non-negotiated, contract violating amounts. Wages are a major provision of any contract. And UPS is negotiating directly with the employees and entering into separate agreements with those employees.

I see it differently.
If the buyout offer gives you a chance tio walk out of here earlier than you planned.
Can you really put a price tag on that?

Fight what you believe in.
Good luck

One driver I’m waiting to see retired under last buyout after he used his 2025 vacations up. He had enough hours last year to earn his 7 weeks for this year. He is having hard time getting paid. He maybe signed off on those???? I know another driver that retired regular in same situation 2024 no buyout and he was paid all those weeks at the end of that year. Maybe something to watch out for. Could be another 8k after tax missing out on.

If you know the right people, getting paid out isn't a problem
