This buyout is really not much different than the first one.
If you weren’t already planning on leaving shortly, you’re really taking a very dangerous chance with starting over somewhere else.
The old saying, you don’t know what you got till it’s gone applies here. Choose wisely.

Are you aware of this wrinkle (development) in the Central Region?

Do you know what "the hammer" is? 🔨

The Judge's decision be damned, because it is not over in the Central Region,

....and perhaps not nationwide either.

I agree with you that this language from the central seems to apply here, but will it be heard timely enough to make a difference?

Will the Company want to risk the entire Central Region striking as a result of their insolance?

Can you image trying to get that toothpaste back in the tube?

Oooh.

That one's good.

That looks pretty straightforward right there.

I’m ready, but we definitely would need membership to understand the goals trying to be achieved.
This would be to halt the buyout at least until the arbitrator decides if it’s appropriate all or if rules and seizures need to be negotiated?
Which I’m guessing is what is going on with the Chicago local’s not being included?

Nope, no arbitration for cases involving only Central Region Supplement issues.

If it can't be resolved at the Central Region Deadlock Committee, we STRIKE!!! 🔨

Did we drop the ball last year with the first round?

Did we drop the ball last year with the first round?

Last year's grievances (in August) were filed under National Master language and are just now hitting the National Docket for March.

The notion of using the "Central Region Hammer" had not been considered for many years and got very dusty during the Hoffa 2 era.

As a result of some recent deadlocks last Fall in the Central Region, "The Hammer" was taken out of mothballs by the General President and is now sitting in a prominent place on the IBT workbench.

Thank you for this breakdown.

I was going to say.... that's not new language.

What plan is that contract talking about in that section 10? UPS is paying guys to voluntarily quit.

I believe that it would fall under the heading of "newly implemented".

And since it is incentivizing a certain action on the part of the driver, it genuinely does feel like @bubblehead's people have something here.

Beats getting laid off, If the union wants a bunch of drivers working two part time shifts for years, ok.

I would argue the plan is not a bonus for working but something the company gives you after you are self terminated.

The word "incentive" is what is killing your argument here. Because that one seems straightforward.

And the argument that it beats layoffs doesn't factor in to whether or not it's allowed contractually.

It is only good after you self terminated. A private matter at that point. Another argument is that article is about bonus or something, not about something that won't happen until you leave the company.

Really nothing new. I did it for the first four or five years of my driving career until April or May sometimes. Covid made people think volume was unlimited and endless, but we’ve historically had a huge drop in volume after Christmas every year until Covid changed a lot of things.
