it was good enough for me when I started they’ll be fine.

I can only imagine the misloads.

They're probably gonna have an attitude about being laid off, so even worse than they'd be normally.

”Laid off” doesn’t even mean laid off like it does in the real world, in most UPS locations. Still have the ability to earn a living and keep your insurance.

Hard for me to feel very sorry for a Covid hire who came in off the street directly to driver.

Their opportunity to go to scale is about seven years ahead of what mine was.

Worked in the building almost 8 years and then went driving with a two year progression. 10 years to top scale for me.

Will the Company want to risk the entire Central Region striking as a result of their insolance?

Can you image trying to get that toothpaste back in the tube?

Somebody watches Law & Order

Really nothing new. I did it for the first four or five years of my driving career until April or May sometimes. Covid made people think volume was unlimited and endless, but we’ve historically had a huge drop in volume after Christmas every year until Covid changed a lot of things.

Gets to be a drag especially working nights.

Lol, so arrogant of the company to reward a big amount of cash to someone who want to quit working!

You worked ups long enough to understand it’s not a “reward”. It’s a plan. The union has an obligation to protect the members that will be left behind. if that plan is to separate labor from Union protections then it’s time to fight. Regardless, if these people receive this money or not.

I have mixed feelings towards the whole thing.

That said, I'd really enjoy seeing the union robustly defend itself against clear encroachment by UPS.

My local tried as did 705, but I think the Central language looks stronger than our lawsuit, which basically just went after the phrasing UPS put in suggesting they could buy out whoever they wanted without following seniority.

At least that's my understanding.
Between the lines, feeder drivers, we need you, you stay. RPCDs, don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

There’s a lot packed into this buyout offer. It’s not simply that the union disagrees with the company giving people money. There’s a plan by the company and at the end of it it might be them trying to be getting out of their obligation to the jobs I promised in this contract or even worse than that ….the labor agreement completely..

Anyone Who says the union should just roll over and let the company do whatever it wants while also being retired with the benefits that the union gave them is really being shortsighted. The company has to answer for why they’re doing this and why they’re not also fulfilling the obligations of their current labor agreement with the Teamsters. Especially when it appears the company is causing their own volume loss.

What's the company going to do if things heat up? They will be forced to hire new blood.

The company's plan b will be more layoffs.

Very true, but it’s gonna be hard to heat things up when they’re actively pursuing dumping business. We aren’t in volume down turn we’re in a planed shrinkage of the company.

They’re already obligated to create thousands of jobs they have not.

Once again, the word “layoff” doesn’t mean exactly what it means elsewhere like at UPS. We have a contract we have rules. Most laid off drivers have options

.for many people at UPS a layoff is more of an inconvenience than a disaster.

Hey @wally , what specifically would be classified as an "incentive plan" if you also consider the article specifically speaks about "bonus plans" as well?

Let me help you:

"Bonus plans" refers to production standards,

....while "incentive plans" encompass everything else, like buyouts.

Yo was looking through your YouTube and noticed you deleted a lot of videos with Richard Hooker in them besides one CNN video… is there a reason for that @roswellhub ? I remember you had many videos with him and Jose Negrete both. Was just wondering if you could chime in. I would comment this on YouTube, but was thinking you would try to hide or delete it.

The union didn't stop drivers from taking the last buyout. Why block union members that want out now? Why do they hate retirees getting more cash?

Maybe if the company would’ve negotiated with the union for people who are actually retiring? This buyout has nothing to do with retirees. they’re simply trying to get rid of people. Even the last one at least it was based on the amount of years you were here.

The Union certainly tried and are still pushing those grievances and labor charges through the systems.

There is at least one case on the docket next week at the National Panel with more to follow or held in abeyance awaiting the outcome of those cases..

This time though, a new-old tool is being utilized, called "The Central Region Hammer".
