I wonder how many UPS employees (management and non-management) were afflicted with cancer (of any kind) just prior to or after retirement...not including being related to smoking?
Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy

I know a few drivers (one was a good steward) that did. Stress. Really hurts the immune system.

Yep, I agree. Stress can really zap you. I try not to take anything too serious. Life is short.

Lack of sleep too. And combined with stress. And with how hard drivers work and the stress they’re under, sleep is even extra important. Not enough time…

Breathing in filth everyday isn't helping.

Probably not, those black hub goblins that you pull out of your nose are no joke.

Took me 10 years after retiring to be told I have cancer.

The steward that got cancer after he retired actually died from it and it didn't take long. He had over 30 years in. He actually cared about the membership. It was a shame.

All I want to hear is that I've had more shrinkage.

At this stage of life shrinkage is a good thing.

I contracted stage 4 melanoma 6 weeks after I retired. Lost 52 lbs in the next 12 weeks. Went to a cancer center in Columbus Ohio and heard their prediction of death so I went to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. They gave me 2 infusions of immunotherapy. It killed all the tumors in 7 weeks. Been clean for 4.5 years now.

You have to get at least two opinions from reputable facilities.

We also flew to Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan New York and they agreed with Cleveland's assessment. I am glad I didn't just stay where my dermatologist sent me the first time. I probably wouldn't be here today.

Thank you for that. I try to eat and drink more healthily. Taking a lot for granted with the stress levels we endure is a bad combination.

One interesting note about my cancer; my tumor marker CA19-9 was about 8900 last summer.
It was going down steadily after each treatment , it was down to 147 at the last blood work. { 37 is normal }

That's great news! A little peace of mind goes a long way in recovery.
