This was mentioned on Reddit, but you can rescan a package later that was already "delivered" and you have the option to Void it from the previous delivery. From there just mark it as duplicate and deliver it as normal. I don't expect a BA to know the ins and outs of everything on the DIAD, especially with them constantly being updated, so this isn't a knock on his knowledge, just an FYI for anyone who doesn't know or isn't currently a driver in package. Though the suggestion to send a DIAD message whenever things go sideways is still great advice.
