Local 710 will keep members informed of this fluid situation as it progresses.

Speaking on behalf of my people, LMAO.

Appreciate the heads up. I didn't see that one. They're definitely making it seem like they don't have much of a case here if the company just lays out a few more details and guarantees.

I think 705 has now joined the club, 705 drivers cannot take the buyouts. And why they're "worried" about the pension fund, if the pension fund got nothing to do with the Union, it's a company owned and operated fund ? Technically JP Morgan Chase is operating it on behalf of UPS. Union greed, they're crying about having less dues collected, lying to members, thinking ppl are stupid. So the drivers are now being screwed by both UPS and the Union, what a great position to be in :)

So it’s fair the company can buy out who they want when they want? Us mechanics same pension didn’t get the offer. Inside full time clerk was driver prior didn’t get the offer. I’m hearing centers with driver shortages are not getting approved. How’s it for the ones that just retired prior of to the buy out even announced even sane contract ???? Or how if they triple the next buy out and you settled for this one. I’d rather see it in writing. This could be just the starting of the company pulling stuff to divide us all.

It reminds me of all of the extra incentives they'd give to seasonals at some of the hubs.
It's definitely a slippery slope of what extra contractual stuff is ok vs what isn't.

I don't think either the union or the company has handled this well at all. I don't think local 710 cares about the buyout or extra contractual unfair bargaining, nearly as much as they care about extra strain on the pension fund.

That's just the vibe I'm getting.

Next contract they will just up what the company has to pay into the funds? The company should know that also I don’t think it’s going to hurt them all funds? Honestly I don’t know

This is a very simple matter being over-complicated for no reason, even though the reasons behind Union panicking, are obvious. Buyouts are voluntarily and are seniority based. This is a good opportunity for the people who were already out of the door, no one else was gonna take the buyouts, neither was forced to. It would also help junior workers to avoid more layoffs. The talks about UPS buying people are pathetic.

Cleaning out the managers!!!!

They should've just been let go, we don't need them to deliver packages, they're in the way ! Carol should be the first one to go.

So they couldn't get drivers, so they're back to slashing management?

Sounds like a plan to me.

C

Notice it is not public info how much per year they are being offered? I bet it is a bunch more than $1,800 per year!

Are you mechanics, also being affected by those layoffs ?

I have to agree somewhat.

I do think it should have been offered to all full timers though, not just drivers.

I also believe the people crying about the strain on the pension is ridiculous. The drivers that took the buyout were on their way out the door anyway and would be collecting that same pension anyway.

Do the Unions just want to kick the pension can down the road a few months? These drivers would have retired soon anyway.

And Pensions should not be relying on current contributions to pay retiree benefits. That's called a Ponzi Scheme and not how pensions are supposed to work.

UPS Pension has nothing to do with the Union

UPS Pension has nothing to do with the Union

Maybe in your small world it doesn't, but even in the Central it is the UPS-IBT Pension Fund.
