Can i get my old job back ?
Just so I can retire again ?

Maybe Greg Abbott will stand up for the International and call out UPS for violating our contract?

Lol, if your own union brethren is not standing up, why would anybody else.

Great deal 2.0!

Drivers close to retirement will jump on this deal just last last years deal.

He would jump on it if he could, like a bum on a ham sandwich.

I truly wonder how many close to retirement will refuse the cash? Will this turn political, people refusing to attend retirement celebrations, etc? How deep will the hardliners dig in?

No one will refuse it if they are close to their retirement.

Scabs!

Why would they be scabs?

Why would they be scabs?

Well, the union contract guys here are against UPS for not, as they see it, living up to the agreement. The buy out is a violation of the contract in their opinion, so naturally, anyone participating in the buyout by extension, is a scab.

You are a fucking idiot, member has worked 25+ years, eligible to retire, haven’t they contributed enough to the pension? Maybe ask the union why the pension will be “wrecked” because of the buyout. Maybe they should start trimming some fat as well.

Maybe, but they will be rich scabs.

Who from the Union said that ?

Who from the Union said that ?

My local president said that, 710s pension is 87% funded by UPS employees.

Call them a scab if you want who gives a shit they’ll never take a union job. I know here if you retire you can take any job as long as it’s not a union job.

I’m a flamer!

It’s not a lot of money for someone that’s not close to retirement. Some young schmucks will take it, like @ilovetrump, and they can work at Amazon and be broke in a couple of years. After taxes, you get about 90k.

@wally is really the only one hung up on the money. I don’t think the union is against top guys getting this and moving on. I do believe they’re very much against giving it to everyone and trying to get rid of drivers and not rehire. And the biggest issue is this was not negotiated. They have an obligation to push back. If the company wants to offer high seniority guys money to leave, then they need to negotiate it, and it needs to be throughout the life of the contract.
