Buyout

gumby · 2025-08-02 19:19 · 7216 views

How many drivers retire from UPS every year? That pension money is already accounted for. Them leaving with extra cash doesn't change things much. It could actually help the lower seniority driver.

If you worried about a smaller workforce, not much you can do about that if the company decides to shrink. They will not hire, cut routes.

The union might want to consider extending years of service if numbers don't crunch.

Ot definitely could have a financial hit on the pension funds
Especially if those vacated jobs dont get replaced

How many routes can you cut? It things really go south there will be no jobs at UPS. We will go the way of Yellow Freight, Jevic, etc.

How many routes can you cut?

They cut them to thr max.
Its changed a ton this year.

Who's doing all the pickups?

Fedex

Who's doing all the pickups?

The runners, right before they come take 20 stops from me.

Now that's something the union should focus on, the runner-gunner's.

What if the union left harassing hourly employees to management?

I feel like they don't need much help in that department.

Runner-gunner's are better for the company than cutting jobs. Free labor!

But @wally, they have kids?

But @wally, they have kids?

So they can only do 11 hours, not 12?

Actually the work 12, get paid for 11.

@wally, have we actually (finally) found a common thread?

Wally hates everything, what a miserable way to live.

Lol, what do i hate? Just pointing out that when faced with routes being cut, running-gunning hurts, doesn't help union workers.

Bonus centers, if worried about layoffs, should eliminate bonus ASAP. All it does is encourage runner-gunners.

Hey!

And now common ground with me.

Vote bonus out. If it was a good deal for hourlies, UPS wouldn't be offering it.

W

I knew a runner-gunner that spent his whole lunch sorting the truck to speed things up. Every single day. So what happens? They boost his stop counts. Fool most likely is still out there runner-gunning.

More stops in less time equal one less job.

Is it even possible to run that fast anymore? I heard bonus was impossible to get anymore.
