Buyout

Grievance for what exactly? 9-5?

In 710, that's article 3, section 3.C, which has this gem:

No Package Driver will intentionally be dispatched over nine and one-half (9 ½) hours on any given day if Package Drivers are on layoff or sent home for the day. In the event total over dispatched hours exceed eight (8) hours while drivers are on layoff or sent home for the day in that center, it will be a violation. It is understood the company has little control over fluctuations in pick up volume on assigned areas and this will not be included in calculating planned day

I would assume there are similar articles elsewhere.

Geographically yes, but contractually Local 710 has a stand alone supplement and is not beholding to Central Region Supplemental language.

Jesus, dude, I know, I’m in 710

Yes, that’s what I was referring to

What happens if layoffs become permanent?

Many drivers retired under this current contract but before the buyout offers. Most if not all of us would have postponed retirement had we known $150k was soon to be available. The buyout was not negotiated and violates the contract. It is a separate agreement between employer and employee. It contradicts with the provisions of the contract by offering different terms of employment and different wages for employees under the same contract.

Retirees cannot file grievances but can be included in the remedy to current employee grievances.

So please, current drivers; file grievances regarding the buyouts and specify in the remedy requested: all drivers who retired under the current contract to be paid $150k.

Thanks brothers and sisters!

Thats a good point and what @thebrownblob has been saying all along

Anyone who says theyre taking the buyout means they applied for the buyout. We have no idea how many they'll take for any individual center. Might take 10, might take zero. (The needs of the company prevail).

That being said, I applied yesterday. Now that I made that decision, I'm gonna be heartbroken if I dont get it!!!!

Imagine if you leave and then they say "get fucked, the $150k is ours"

Heard they were going to deny all the runners and only accept the slugs.

I have imagined that....!

Haha, there's a scam to get you to skip the buyout! What EXACTLY is that increase gonna be?

Clearly says 30%

Clearly says 30%

"Up to a"

If everyone who has stated that they applied for the buy out is accepted, just how many posters here will still be active ?
W

That 30 percent could be about $1500 a month. Payback over bonus in 6-7 years. No ss taxes on pension. Tax free in some states.

G

Is that a bad thing? Seems like a smart move by 705.

G

Question for You or @bigunionguy, UPS is downsizing don’t you think the union should also? Maybe merge 705 and 710, not sure what negatives would come out of that.
