I’ll reconsider if you strongly recommend it, I guess I just don’t see what they’re doing with the money
Last time I talked to them they said I need to donate so we stop automation, yet it’s happening left and right and I don’t see them stopping
Just reminds me of politicians saying to donate and vote for them so they can stop so and so then they never do it
Hard to stop automation, but my local was successful in my state with Drive donations, sending to people to the legislature. They stopped platooning semi. Truck.
The issue is it will be back on the agenda in the very next session these guys incorporation would never give up.
Do you go to your Union meetings and ask them what they’re doing?
I can promise you if you don’t give automation will never stop or even be slowed down.

Yeah, those poor bastards are stuck paying the price at one of the highest paying blue-collar jobs with free insurance and a pension that very few people in the country have.
I realize some union leaders may have been eligible if they were still on the seniority list...
BUT...the buyout was not meant for them, and it was DIRTY for them to take that spot away from real drivers.
MHO
Everyone who received that letter was eligible to apply. Whether or not it was meant for them was for the company to decide..
If somebody on leave from the company doing union business loses their position or resign, they go right back to UPS and their seniority is still valid and still has the same effect.

How is it dirty? They all sweated and spilled blood on the job just like you! They are on a leave of absence and should absolutely be entitled to their seniority just like any other union brother. Don’t let TDU type politics divide us.
Now we got all the fossils walking around delaying their retirement because they think they're owed a buyout. Even after the union and company agreed to no more buyouts. Retards still think they have one coming.

It might help.... if people would READ THE CONTRACT !
Geez, I said in my post I realize they were eligible.
What I DON'T like is this:
On the one hand, you tell someone like @gumby , "Sorry Mr Gumby, you don't get the buyout because it goes by the needs of the company".
But on the other hand the company NEEDS to get rid of union leaders? That's dumb.... They should have opted out, and left those slots for men wearing brown every day.

OK, but maybe we all should’ve stood in solidarity until every employee ups that’s full-time was offered this buyout
People like @turdferguson with many decades of seniority wasn’t offered this buyout because apparently he’s just not worthy of it according to the company
I believe one of the main reasons this buyout was given was to cause division in the ranks. The company can win if they can get us to not have solidarity with one another.

Problem is they aren't really getting rid of union leaders....I'm quite sure someone is going to step right in their shoes.

I’d like to clear something up here and explain these people you keep calling “leaders” at the local level are really not leaders. They are representatives..
They are package car, drivers feeder drivers
Who members chose to represent them .
If at any time, people feel, they have not been represented properly those people can be voted out and sent right back to the package car and the feeder trucks.
Most of those people in Feeders and in package car that took these jobs as representatives took a pay cut to do so. It’s not even debatable.
