I hate that when you go to a furniture store its just a showroom and the furniture has to be delivered from another warehouse. Usually only a day or two. Three weeks is ridiculous. Slow boat from China?
My dad had a furniture/appliance store, so I grew up with the business. When he had a customer buy something, they would just load it up in the truck and follow them home, no extra delivery charge. There is a gigantic markup on furniture. Living in the Atlanta area, there are warehouses for all these furniture chains. I didn't mind waiting a week, I had to get rid of the old furniture anyway and I can understand getting on the trucking company's delivery schedule. We cleaned out everything and were ready for a new bed that first delivery date they promised. Three cancelled deliveries now, screw them. Direct from the manufacturer will still take another week and we will loose the bundled savings price we have now. I despise furniture shopping, my dad used to just give us stuff or fix our GE appliances.
