We did talk to him and he was hell set on running. His beef started back in 2013 when 623 was one of the three locals that had their contracts pushed through when they voted no on it. Ken Hall and Sean were running the contract campaign back then. But even after that Rich did some stuff I wasn't in favor of. So I am not going to say one said was right and one side was wrong.
When you did the donation you can donate anonymously, but Greg isn't hiding from it and I don't blame him. The back and forth is just childish and hurts the members. If he wants to give 500 bucks to a friend go for it. He has offered money to me for gear on the podcast. I only have positive things to say about Greg.
But I do agree, democracy is always healthy. Anybody who makes the dumb excuses that "it costs money" is it in for other reasons. Anyways I have a ton of work on my hands so I cant keep coming back here. Just wanted to reply to you because it was the only sensible comment left on here. Mostly everything is bubblehead posts is a stretch of the truth or factually incorrect.
I’ve been around a while and I’ve been a delegate multiple times. The pressure division was 10 times worse during the Hoffa years.The 2016 convention was brutal for Zuckerman. But he had a valid reason for running and a strong showing in the election.
And I also agree democracy is great, but I also preface that by saying it looks shabby when you run a campaign with no direction simply to put your name out there., and yes, it certainly does cost a lot of money, pretending that’s not an issue is putting your head in the sand. If you have strong support and a different vision and the current leader leadership then yes go for it.
Just at my local Union I happen to know the last election cost over $40,000. The group that ran against the incumbents got less than 10% of the vote. That was the members money that was in my opinion, squandered for a vanity reason.
