My point is that I think I'm actually not overstating the Trump self-destruction thing. And sure, midterms are rarely good for the incumbent party. That's why I said "We can revisit this after the midterms and see how it compares to previous midterms."
The proof that I was right or wrong will be right in front of our eyes.And I don't think government can fix all of our problems. I've never even gotten close to suggesting that it can. As I've said repeatedly, our biggest problems right now are due to bad choices that Trump has made: getting us stuck in the Iran debacle, and the pursuit of his shitty tariffs and trade wars. I don't think it's unrealistic to assume that the incoming Democrats won't be into doing those things. In that specific way I think they actually can fix problems. Is that an irrational take?
Is it irrational to think the Democrats will do something different? No, is it irrational to think they will do something better? Yes. Were you happy with their performance two years ago? Not against you voted for Democrats. I think it’s great that we’ll have gridlock. Getting power to one party usually makes the party in control Go crazy and do stupid things.
