I think the court case files were only a subset of the Epstein files in existence. Trump's DOJ probably could've released the complete collection on its own. Don't think their hands are tied from doing so until there's a legislative branch vote to compel their release.
So the question is, if this has allowed the Democrats to hold it over his head, why isn't he just releasing them? Why is he instead having meetings in the White House Situation room and calling in Republican House members to try and convince them to vote no on the issue?

Because contrary to popular opinion. Trump is a New York liberal. And there’s a lot of his friends on that list. I absolutely don’t believe there’s anything other than that and definitely nothing nefarious about him on there. But his donors might be.
