When it comes to production, that's what they get you on, stealing time. Technically you are correct, nothing about production can get you fired, but most that do get fired are misbehaving, drawing attention to themselves.
Hats off to the shop stewards dealing with the sealing time guys.
If someone is genuinely stealing time, I have zero pity for them. More times than not what management consider “stealing time”. Never seen a Teamster fired for production numbers. They’ve even tried to do what they call a three day lock and ride and they never stick.
