Well from what I've been told by union "representatives" who take time off from their UPS job to do union political work or union functions,etc are paid their UPS wage, so maybe where you are they're getting fucked.
Nah. As a steward when I takeoff I get lost time paid at my rate of pay. I don’t get overtime though.. so I certainly lose money that day

The President of my local was a mileage guy before taking his position. 20 routinely makes between $20-$35,000 less than he would’ve if he had stayed on in Feeders..
My business agent is a package car I routinely make between 10 and $18,000 more a year than he does.
Now someone will say that’s because of the overtime and that’s certainly true. But if you think business agents aren’t answering their phones at all times of the day and night you’d be mistaken. Just as a steward, I get phone calls at 10 PM on Saturday nights lol.
I don’t have to answer them, but sometimes it’s the right thing to do.
