Hi

Just read Mark. Was surprised to see a lot similar to Matthew, what makes one prefer over the other? There were some parts in Mathew I liked that weren’t in Mark, is it a condensed version? Going to read Luke next I just like to start when I can finish it in one sitting

Do you guys believe this? There were a couple quotes about dogs I didn’t particularly like in what I’ve read so far, but I chalked it up to Jesus talking in parables and maybe just differences in the time and environment. I highly doubt Jesus would have any problem with dogs today and I think or hope he would love them, but do you think I’m wrong?

Jesus loved animals, I find it hard to believe he didn’t like dogs.

Ok yeah thank you I just found it very hard to believe. And also there was one quote in the little I’ve read so far where a woman approached Jesus asking for a miracle and he said something about not giving food from the table to dogs, and she replied along the lines of something like “well they still get the crumbs from under our dinner table” and he was like yeah you’re right and helped her, so seems to me dogs were still living with humans in their home at that time and place and he didn’t have any problem with it

She was saying that even the dogs get crumbs lord, can I not at least get the same?

Yup that’s the one I was thinking of, and he blessed her. And Jesus always talked in parables so unless it’s proven otherwise I’m choosing to believe that was Jesus showing and saying he would also give dogs miracles and they’re worthy as well

Dogs are a gift from God. A loyal companion that displays unconditional love. If that’s not God reminding us of his love for us, I don’t know what is. We’re not worthy of that love.

I agree 100% man. I can’t put in to words how much I love my dog and how much he’s helped me see the beauty in life. I truly believe he is a gift from God.

He’s your closest, most loyal friend for as long as he lives. My last dog died 4 years, 5 months and 2 days ago. One of a few I had. I’m done, I can’t go through that anymore.

Absolutely, couldn’t have said it better. I try my best to repay it to him but he’s given me so much I’m not sure I can match it

and im sorry to hear about your loss. Rest In Peace

it’s comforting thinking there’s a loving afterlife, and if there is one dogs have to be included. I found this Bible while walking with my dog, on to Luke next

I always knew the brief story about Judas but wtf??? Was he not a true believer? Or just blinded by greed? And for so little also. Never knew he hanged himself after either

also it’s interesting the crowd chose the barabbas guy over Jesus, it’s like everywhere except where Jesus lives believed him, which is interesting

and the one other thing I’m wondering about so far is John the Baptist. They mentioned him fulfilling prophecy, being Elijah? Or something like that. I’m curious if he felt he was too, or was aware of fulfilling that or if he was just “going with the flow”

Luke was a physician. He never knew Christ personally, but he is very analytical. He is confident in the divinity of Jesus. I’ve read the Bible a couple times. I suggest that you begin with the old testament first. Without the Judeo, there is no Christianity. You have no context if you don’t start from the beginning. It’s very interesting . Buy a study bible that explains some of the language. Well worth it. King James only. When you have time, research that version and see why it was the culmination of years of research.

You need to read the Old Testament, at least the Pentateuch, the first 5 books.

Jew Bastards.

I plan to, I already started the New Testament so I’m just going to finish it in “order” then I’ll do the Old Testament after probably

I’m a little confused about the relationship between Jewish religion and Christianity today though.

i get the importance or beginning with Old Testament, but from the little I’ve read so far in the Bible, and what I’ve seen Jewish people say today, I’m confused by the relationship

They killed Jesus and didn’t believe he was the son of god, and still don’t. After looking it up I learned Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet, but Jewish people don’t believe that even today

the little I know of Muslim religion I’m not a fan of, but it seems weird to me how Christianity is being linked with Israel today and being used for wars there as if they’re partners? I see netenyahu talking about assistance in wars and saying things like judeo-Christian, but unless I’m missing something they don’t believe anything regarding the New Testament?

maybe better suited for politics sub though

First of all, my comment about Jews was in jest. Jesus was a Jew, born of Jewish parents, in the line of Jesse, same family as David. Jesus was a Jew, he came first to the chosen people, the Jews. They rejected him, the Roman’s killed him, not the Jews. If the Jews hadn’t rejected him, there would be no Christianity. It’s all interwoven. Read the Old Testament. I’m not gonna say it again. You’re reading the end of the book without knowing the beginning.

I know that, you’ve made it very clear how you feel about israel in the past, wasn’t trying to suggest otherwise sorry it just reminded me

there were also a couple quotes from Jesus where he seemed to go against some of the teachings in the Old Testament though, like when they criticized him for eating without washing hands, and going against their leaders or teachers, so it seemed to me from the little I’ve read that he was saying it’s like a “new start”.

im still confused by the relationship though, seems like a pretty big discrepancy in beliefs
