So, my Treasury Direct experience today:

Was gonna buy some T Bills. Entered my bank info...

Got message saying they couldnt verify my bank info, please check all entries.

OK, I did.Nothing wrong, all info is correct.

Then they locked down that bank, so I couldnt use it with them.

The remedy was to print out a 5 page form, take it to my bank, and have it all verified by the bank manager.

Then MAIL it (honestly, who uses mail? The freakin Treasury, that's who). After that, they have 6 weeks to re-verify that. Or not.

Pissed me off big time. Sent them a message that I wasnt going to my bank, and if they couldnt fix it, just delete this account.

Checked online, and this is COMMON.

It’s COBOL cranky sometimes especially for those verifications. Lots of Fraud happened 2020-23 so some money laundering and other checks go on. It’s not a part time air driver type bank is it. The 6 weeks is an up to time line. I would say it would be quicker. Ive seen a post or two the last few years that said they called and the representative took care of it. Does it require a Medallion Signature guarantee or just the manager signature?

You probably already know this. Treasury Direct is the only place for Ibonds. TBills,Notes, and Bonds can be purchased in other accounts(Vanguard etc) and a longer duration(over a year or two) should be purchased outside TD IMO. The Empower 401k self managed account also has access to all Treasuries(auction or secondary).
