It effectively keeps China and Russia from ever expanding in the arctic. Permanently. Anything that “ in our opinion” threatens national security is a no go. Yes it’s similar, but does having 2 new bases make us more dangerous or less dangerous? Not to mention the rare earth we’re gonna get.
